Somebody Finally Mapped It. The Pattern is Not Failures of Parenting, Why Your Pin Matters
August 2026 marks one year of data collection for the One Pin, One Parent global map. The first pin was placed August 2025.
August 2026 is the Official One Year Launch of The Parental Discard Map
M.F. Shaw MSPSY, an independent researcher spent a year collecting something nobody else was tracking:
The locations of family members discarded (cut off) by their adult children.
No funding. No institution.
A website, form and a map.
Then the locations got laid over another map: The countries where Facebook, Instagram, and the rest rolled out first, starting in 2007.
They match.
The countries the platforms saturated first, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, are the countries reporting the most.
The countries the platforms reached years later barely appear.
Inside the United States, the reports concentrate in the big metro states and go quiet in the rural ones. The order the technology arrived is the order the reports arrive.
If this were about parenting, the reports would come from everywhere, randomly. They do not. They follow the technology’s rollout, country by country, in sequence.
The reports themselves, from people who have never met, on different continents, describing the same event:
“Totally blindsided, no explanation.”
“Started using the ‘language’… Three days later, she cut me off with no warning.”
“Zero contact, ZERO, for one full year!”
“This is contagion.”
“Thank you for approaching this in a scientific manner”
“I am not alone”
“Thank you for collecting the data.”
No government tracks this.
No journal has published on it.
Big Tech avoids their responsibility to an entire generation.
Those making profit from family pain? They do not dare tell their audiences the facts.
Even with significant pushback by the billion dollar “estrangement” industry.
This map is the only record that exists, and it grew to 6 continents in twelve months on word of mouth alone.
It has a name: Parental Discard.
THE SIGNIFICANCE
The map is public. The pattern is visible. Pin your location by 07/31/2026 for the July 2026 data.
As of June 30, 2026, 211 families from 14 countries found the same map and form with no advertising, no funding, no recruitment, and no translation.
Their pins did not scatter randomly across the globe. 96.2% landed in the six English-speaking nations that were first flooded with social media platforms between 2006 and 2009.
The remaining 3.8% landed in countries where those platforms arrived later, and each of those countries has exactly one pin.
The pins follow the same sequence the technology followed. That is not a parenting problem showing up in random places. That is a pattern mapped onto a known, documented, independently verifiable deployment timeline.

WHY
If discarding a parent were a personal decision caused by individual family dysfunction, it would appear everywhere at roughly equal rates regardless of geography.
It does not.
It concentrates where the platforms concentrated first. Per capita, the first-saturated countries report at roughly 50 times the rate of the later ones, and the rates step down in the exact order the technology arrived.
Remove population size from the equation and the order still holds. Remove any duplicate entries from the data and the concentration barely moves. The two easiest ways to dismiss this dataset both fail on contact with the math.
WHY PIN?
The goal is 500 pins. The map is at 211 (June 2026) which is 42.2%. Ten US states have zero (0) pins. Countries like New Zealand, France, Spain and Italy have zero.
Every pin is a data point. Every data point is a family.
At 211, the pattern is visible. At 500 , it becomes a DATASET that cannot be dismissed as preliminary or anecdotal.
No institution is collecting this data. No university. No funded organization.
The only record that Parental Discard follows the technology map is THIS map, built by families reporting voluntarily. A parent who does not pin is a data point that stays invisible.
The pattern can only be as strong as the numbers of people willing to confirm it exists.
